After experiencing amazing friendship on multiple occasions in my life, and having had the opportunity to really understand much of human nature & psychology, I can say with great certainty that friendship can be one of the most extraordinary parts of life. I’m sure, at some point in your life, that you’ve experienced amazing friendship. You may identify with it as a timeless moment of connection or maybe a time where you had outrageous fun with friends. This on top of the world feeling is really due to the deep emotional connection of friendship. It can take the form of plutonic or intimate connection, where you may feel the person is a soulmate. Friendship can be so amazing in life, yet why do many leave it up to chance?

When I talk about amazing friendship connection, I’m not talking about your everyday friendships. I’m talking about an intensely deep & fulfilling connection that most would refer to as a lifelong best friend or even a soulmate. So with that in mind, what is the state of friendship being experienced around the world? My estimations are…

- I assume that most people throughout the world have experienced moments of this amazing friendship connection in their lives.

- We are approaching 7 billion people in the world and with the high poverty rates, most people may not have had the experience of a consistent friendship like this in their life.

- Even well off social butterflies that are always emotionally connecting with others do not experience this level of connection throughout the majority of their life.

- It seems as though people typically experience less of this amazing friendship connection with older age.

- It seems as though groups of friends on this level are even more rare.

The state of friendship around the world is not in good shape, compared to what it can be. However, we have the opportunity to strategically create friendship in our lives and figure out a repeatable formula here at the Friendship Initiative that can be spread throughout the world.
